Aweekstweets August 7 to September 5 2016: the weeks of wine and rosé

Beginning to exhaust my store of old personal photos to share on Facebook. Need to PhotoShop myself a cooler childhood.

Catching up on Twitter. I have 1,456,624 new tweets waiting for me since the last time I checked. Might be something important in there.

I made me a little wallet card of more or less “blue” v “red” sure-thing states, electoral vote-wise, in coming election. Comfy butt cushion

Surfing the morning news shows. I’ve had my fill of amazing inspiring life-affirming human interest stories.

GOP downballot candidates campaign defensively as a “check” on Clinton. Ridiculous. She’s utterly middle of the road. No extremist.

Substitute yoga teacher today at the Springfield facility. Liked her better than the regular Sunday teacher. Made me consciously push myself

The great Charles Osgood is retiring. Give “CBS Sunday Morning” to Jane Pauley. She’s always a pleasure.

Peaceful Saturday evening reading NYTimes Magazine back issues on my deck. The breeze has died down. Windy opinions don’t ruffle my feathers

Pondering our vacation next month, and the one later in the year. But first: three-day holiday.

Wish they'd built that wall while Trump was still in Mexico. Let the Mexicans in, but keep his type out of the United States.

I have written 10 blogs that are queued up to be published this month in various channels. I'll write a few more next week. Post Labor Day

Hillary's having a hard time finding someone to play Trump in a debate rehearsal. I'd suggest Don Rickles, but he's too much of a sweetie.

RT @kexpplaylist #kexp Rock and Roll (feat. Jimmy Page) by Jerry Lee Lewis from Last Man Standing JK--2006. Piano-powered Led Zeppelin cover

Can Star Trek tricorders only record 3 tracks? Surprised there won’t be multitrack recording in the 23rd century. Backlash against 8-track?

It’s not even Labor Day & I already got my flu shot. Think I’ll shake the leaves out of my trees so I can start raking. No procrastinating!

RT @kexpplaylist #kexp Locator by Wilco from Schmilco JK--2016. Another great song from their forthcoming LP.

RT @kexpplaylist #kexp Awoo (feat. Betta Lemme) by Sofi Tukker from Soft Animals JK--2016. Sounds a bit like Regina Spektor.

Please stop referring to something as "next big thing" unless you define "big." Do you mean big hype, adoption, innovation, and/or value?

Reading industry news, as I do each morning I'm working. The older I get, more likely I am to overlook what's new if I don't make the effort

It's September. Still technically it's mostly summer. Was easy for me to overlook that fact in upper Midwest. In mid-Atlantic, I feel it.

Still pondering someone's remark yesterday. "I can't believe you're in IT. You're so outgoing." Bizarre prejudice about people in industry

Stop saying Trump’s base is white men. Plenty of people of my race and gender consider him a nauseating creep. He ain’t us.

I assume that Trump is going to Mexico City to ask for their initial down payment on his wall. I also assume he’ll once again praise tacos.

Traffic jam particularly bad on the highway passing thru Worcester. Legend has it the name is an Olde English contraction of “worst here.”

Yes, I've been checking my work email on my smartphone while vacationing. Yes, I know I shouldn't. But autumn awaits. I'm poised to perform

Most annoying Facebook feature are videos that auto-play as you scroll over them in your newsfeed. If I wanted U in my face, I'd click on U.

We covered a considerable amount o forested mountainous territory at Acadia National Park over 4 glorious days. The coastline is spectacular

In the Maine accent, “Bar Harbor” sounds a bit like “Bahama.” Only other thing that suggests Caribbean is Caribou. But that’s stretching it.

Finished microtasting the microbrew. Got a bit of a microbuzz. Maine.

Nature tour of Mt Desert Island. Next stop: the brewery tour. Barley, hops, yeast, and water. Can’t get more natural than that!

Whimsically named local retail establishments: pets (”Bark Harbor”), lingerie (”Bra Harbor”). How about a men’s club called “Bro Harbor”?

Something as simple as a nice, hot, free cup of coffee from the office in the morning makes you remember a motel enough to want to return

The wife and I have been appreciating our physical conditioning with every strenuous mountain hiking step. We’re aging, but strong.

Women who run track tend to be among the most beautiful female athletes. This Olympics reminds me that the late Flo Jo was no exception.

Egidia & I really love Acadia National Park. A very family-oriented middle-class getaway. We feel like we’re in our element. People are nice

The wife and I were discussing possibly Sumatra last night while dining in the park in Bar Harbor. I remarked on Friday Harbor 4 summers ago

Every vacation is essentially a meditation on vacations past and potential.

Vacation is letting your body decide when it’s time to sleep and wake, knowing no schedules, tasks, or people compel its attention. Sun.

I love how Trump denies access to most of the press but then bitches that they aren’t covering him the way he’d like. Tough noogies!

Digging Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park & all these Acadians. Love Cajun cooking but where’s the jambalaya? And what’s with these lobsters?

Reading up in the NY Times on the “vintage life”: “carefully curated yet casually scuffed.” Way too precious. Just be a happy slob.

Hanging out in Bar Harbor. I napped while the wife drove up the coast. Was all a blur of quaint coastal touristy retail.

I-95’s thick subterranean slash thru Manhattan’s narrow northern tip strikes me as the most diabolical segment of the interstate hwy system

Hartford CT's downtown is an organic hodgepodge of historic, modern, and postmodern structures. Feels like a Hollywood backlot

Enjoyed brief tour of Ft. Lee NJ streets surrounding th approach to Geo Washington Bridge. Where Chris Christie's presidential hopes expired

There was not a single smooth-flowing mile to drive this afternoon on I-95 east of Yonkers. Was a thoroughly disconnecticut experience.

Steamy midsummer morning in southern New Jersey. All of the Steve Van Zandt wannabes are using their bandannas as sweat rags.

I have never once put a glove in my glove compartment. What is wrong with me?
