Quake's bark worse than bite. My desk lamp fell forward, undamaged. A little foam monkey fell off my bookcase. I picked it up.
Before then, oddly, a quake (much milder) in Detroit in mid-70s. Listening to Tigers on radio one afternoon. Ernie Harwell mentioned quake.
Last time I experienced temblor of this magnitude was '92 in Orange County CA, twice in one morning with my then-5-year-old son on shoulders
