Aweekstweets January 3-10 2015: the week in a nutshell

US history would have played out differently if our Founding Fathers had called the Bill of Rights the "top 10 tips for avoiding despotism"

There's the concept of "tipping point" when trend unstoppable. I'd like to propose a "tipsy point" when trend gets high on its own fumes.

RT @kexpplaylist #kexp Nobody’s Empire by Belle and Sebastian from Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance JK--2015. Very new. Very nice.

A usual Saturday afternoon activity. I hang at Panera while the wife shops at the supermarket. Today: Whole Foods.

We live in the age of enumerated advice. “Top ten tips.” Would God have won respect if Moses revealed “top 10 commandments”?

"Philip Kennicott: French newspaper tragedy strains host-guest dynamic" JK--Excellent essay on mutual tolerance. http://wapo.st/1DJ5mCj

My ritual morning glance at the movies playing this evening on basic cable. I seen 75% of these. The rest? Absolutely no interest.

What keeps me centered is the opportunity to publish yet another thought.

"Tip of the iceberg"? Supposed to suggest awe, but phrase conjures premonitions of maritime peril. Why not "dorsal fin of the Great White"?

I'm bit weary o attempts to name next IT paradigm by attaching different adjective to word "data." Just as superficial as "Web x.0" nonsense

Scene from "Boyhood" that made me laugh was dad waxing rhapsodic over a Beatles solo-output compilation he made special for his teenage son

A single-digit morning. If I remove my mittens, I could count how cold they are on both hands.

Saw “Boyhood.” Was actually more about the mom & her aging process. Patricia Arquette was fearless, literally aging 12 years thru story arc

The trick to keeping your spirits up in all circumstances is thinking of all the ways things could be better, not how it could be worse.

Breathing in the atmosphere of a new year. Deep inhale thru the nostrils. Long exhale from the mouth. Oxygen floods mind & muscles. Relax.

Just committed my first errant input of "2014" for current year. Won't be the last.

Exercised a lot over the holiday period, but also ate and drank a lot. Slept a lot too. Did nothing a lot.

Wish to thank my lovely, literate daughter for lending me her personal copy of Laura Hillenbrand's "Unbroken." Exceptionally page-turning

Whar’s your Mad Magazine Don Martin Character Name? I’m Rance Fleezitz.

Starting to unpack my memories of 2014. Actually, no. Continuing to unpack my realization of how ancient the 20th century now is.

#KEXP listeners' list of top LPs of 2014 is real solid. Forget the rank ordering. Good releases up and down the list: http://ow.ly/GLdeh

January 4. A Sunday. Pretending that it’s still the holiday season. It is...in some cultures. That’s good enough for me.

Still don't get the point of devices that count steps. Just allot yourself a certain time & a certain distance to walk. Just go. Don't count

Saw "The Skeleton Twins" the other day on DVD. Wiig & Hader's "yeah we can do drama" vehicle. OK, but still prefer them in comedic material.
